Port of Conakry: Shorter Vessel Waits, but Congestion Persists

CONAKRY ANCHORAGE 02.11.2026

Vessel waiting times at the Port of Conakry have reportedly fallen from more than 30 days to approximately 15 days – a welcome improvement, although congestion remains. Berth allocation remains a key constraint, with the current system limiting each shipping line to one vessel alongside at a time. Currently, there are 22 vessels at anchorage. Common cargos include: bauxite, clinker, rice, wheat, petroleum products, fertiliser, sugar and general cargo.
