We have received the following update from Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) noting: “the derailment and collision at Umunywana at approximately 06h35 today, 26 June 2025. A loaded 200-wagon train (4819) destined for RBCT derailed on the No. 1 line. Subsequently, another 200-wagon empty train (4810) returning from RBCT collided with the derailed wagons on the adjacent line. Train 4819 derailed by approximately 12 wagons (to be confirmed), while train 4810 derailed by six 21E locomotives and approximately 10 wagons (to be confirmed).”
